Maybe someone has had this problem in the past or know of someone who had it in the past. Ok, mustang is driven one a week usually on weekends, starts fine. Drive the car for any length of time and shut it down. Try to start the car back up after hour or so and it sputters and acts like it doesn't want to start. And if I don't give it gas at first it dies and has trouble starting again. Not bad trouble it starts maybe after 5 seconds or so but not like when the engine is cold, it fires right up. Any info? Dad said maybe vapor lock _________________

I would be leaning towards a fuel related issue. Although issues that happen at one point in time, and then totally clear up are the hardess to figure out.
Fuel filter ? Can hurt to change that, only take a few seconds. On the other side, perhaps your starter solinoid is heating up and going out of wack ?> There should be a way you can test that, you can see if when you turn the key if the soloinod opens.
What happens when it doesn't start, should have really been my first question, but its late...lol...so what happens when it doesn't start ? No cranking ? _________________

No problem with power or cranking at all. I lowered the fuel pressure to 40 psi with the regulator vacuum unplugged. The gas pedal felt very stiff and the car was a little bit sluggish, gonna try and bump it up maybe 2 psi and drive it again. I usaully change the fuel filter every year or so even though the car is only driven maybe 5K per year. _________________

I seem to recall this issue when the module on the distributor went bad. Also, check the mass air meter. Good luck! _________________ Walt Ziffer

It seems only to do it after starting from sitting for a couple of days, If I drive it to work and then leave for lunch 3 or 4 hours later it will sputter if its hot outside. Also I cleaned the MAF last year and there wasn't really a difference. _________________

Humm, how about the in tank fuel pump? I recall I had that issue too. When it would get hot, the in tank pump would shut down. _________________ Walt Ziffer

Humm, nice puzzle you got going on here. Next guess would be the TPS or O2 censors.
Otherwise, you could have a bad injector or injectors.
You could just remove all the FI equipment and bolt on an old 4bbl Carb.
Keep us posted and good luck! _________________ Walt Ziffer

Keep us posted and good luck! | Ok, replaced both O2 sensors, voltage regulator and added a power cable going from alternator to solenoid(3G alt). Now it has a miss somewhere, around 2K rpm it misses really bad and the exhaust pops. But not all the time, sometimes in normal driving it doesn't do it, other times its every gear. I took the power cable back off and still misses, switched back to the factory ignition and still same problem. replaced O2 sensors with same brand and part number that was on the car. I've checked everything about 3 times and nothings loose. Who knows? _________________

Sounds like a bad MAF sensor. _________________
