Post subject:  Extreme rasp from new exhaust manifold

Hi everyone, I just installed the mac ceramic pro shorties on my 2012 v6 automatic Mustang. I have the ford racing axle backs and an airraid Cai.

After driving it I noticed an extreme rasp when accelerating. Is this normal? It sounds like an old Honda Accord struggling to accelerate. Should I be worried?

When doing my research I didn't come across any reviews that indicated a rasp after installed.

Thanks

They will probably sound that way until they get broken in, but also possible they will not change until another set-up is chosen. Others not mentioning rasp, can be because of 2 reasons, everyone's hearing isn't the same, or they have a different exhaust setup than you do.

Certain exhausts (mufflers) sound different with long tubes/shorty headers, also the mid-pipe (x or h) play a roll in sound.

Exhaust is also subjective, just because someone else raves about it, doesn't mean that you will.

I received the verdict. There are numerous holes and seams in the welding. I am extremely disappointed in the quality. I would assume that MAC would do an air test and seal test as part of their quality process, but I guess not.

American Muscle came through with offering an RMA. I wasn't happy with the fact they offered to only pay half the labor to have the welds fixed. I choose not to do the welds because I purchased the ceramic coating to keep the aesthetics and I don't want the possibility for failed welds further down the line. On top of that, no one is going to reimburse me the cost of labor for install/uninstall/install. I am not a happy camper because it's a lot. I tried to reach MAC to see if I could just have the passenger side header replaced and save labor, but couldn't reach them at all, plus I have heard their customer service is notoriously bad. I called about ten times and only got the message that their voicemail services are full. Needless to say, I will never buy another MAC product again nor do I recommend any one else.

wow that is horrible. You'd think that a company that's been around as long as they have would have better quality control. As long as American Muscle will refund or replace the faulty parts, I guess you're all set. Shame that MAC doesn't have better customer service.
