Hey guys,

My trans is getting on in years 100k miles on it now. It is a bit clunky changing gears, going into gear and such.

Questions.

Does it make sense to do a flush and filter or should I just save up for the inevitable rebuild or swap?

Are there any alternatives to the stock auto?

Oh this is attached to my 4.0.

When was the last time you changed the filter and fluid? Should be done every 60,000 miles. Have you checked the fluid level? If low can cause these issues!

I bought it with 90k. So no idea if it has ever been changed.

I think those are the ones that dont have a dipstick. They have a plug in the pan where you would use a machine to drain and fill the trans. That might only be on the GT's though. Hopefully you do have a dipstick and can service it yourself. If so, change the fluid and filter. Make sure you use a Ford filter and fluid.

Pretty sure I don't have a dipstick. It would have to be done the hard way.
