The Cheeburger Cheeburger cruise was very well attended and included some of the folks from the Northern Virginia Mustang Club, namely Mark & Jim. I was surprised to see so many club members who had also participated in the Crab Cake cruise with the Northern Virginia Mustang Club on Saturday. You guys are really into cruising!

We all met up at the Pizza Hut in Mt. Airy, MD on a cold and windy morning and after a bit of socializing we had our group meeting and headed out on the cruise. Congratulations to Bob Thompson on orchestrating this cruise as it was very scenic and included a weeks worth of aerobic activity in one day!

I finally got to meet 6-71 a frequent poster on this forum who was there with his wife Joanna in their beautiful 1990 Red Mustang Convertible. Dirk was very really excited to finally be able to participate in an activity with the club as they live down in Southern Maryland. He was also very complimentary toward my 2003 Mustang and the way it turned out after it has been restored.

The cruise stopped at a scenic area in Howard County at was once the site of St. Mary's College. We couldn't figure out how anyone could build anything on this hill top site especially in the late 1890's. Access is limited as there are no roads and in order to get to the site you have to walk up approximately 100 steps! It reminded me of climbing the pyramids in Mexico!

I know a lot of people are going to be sore and tired tomorrow! As a tribute to my back surgery last year, I struggled through without any apparent injury! I was slow but steady and made the trek all of the way to each location taking photos along the way. The photos from inside the underground tunnels were taken by Bob. After this "historic" visit we cruised on over to the Greene Turtle next door to the Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant and had lunch on the outside patio. The weather turned out nice and everyone had a good time as usual. I hope that you enjoy the pictures!

Great pictures Steve! So happy to see you make it all the way today, that was no easy feat! That surgery was a God send for you and glad that the pain you have dealt with in the past has stayed in the past! And after seeing your railroad in picture I really need to see that in person!

Here's a link to the "Hell House" site. Some neat history on it.

I'm glad that you guys and gals all liked the photos. I have waited over 30 years to be able to do this type of photography for myself. I became a professional photographer in 1980 and for all of those years took pictures of others at Weddings, Anniversaries, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs as well as organizational work.

Now that I'm retired I can take pictures of things that I want to photograph! In addition to my MCOM activities I still take a lot of pictures of model train layouts and my train club activity. :btu:

I'm not as sore as I thought I would be today after all of that hiking yesterday. I even had the energy to cut my lawn today before it rains all week.

The back surgery was indeed a life saver for me. I was in constant pain before my surgery and there would have been no way for me to have done all of this hiking last year.

I'm hoping to be able to get a lot of good photos at Ocean City later this month!

Well done Steve and it was a real pleasure meeting you all and thanks for the opportunity since the wife and I are new to everything. Good job to Bob for his efforts on getting this deal off the ground.

I was so tired and didnt wake up for the cruise. Looks like I didnt miss much, Ive been to that place every summer multiple times. I wish i saw it before they knocked it down in 2006 though. Its pretty cool! Should have checked out the abandoned paper mill right next to it! but that requires a lot of climbing and isn't that safe haha :btu:

I'm still trying to figure out how anything was built on those hills. There doesn't seem to be any access roads or any way to bring building materials up there. I wish I had seen this before it was torn down. :confused2:

There is a road, but its overgrown and blocked off at the entrance. You used to be able to drive up to hell house years ago

I'd really like to learn more about the history of this college and how it was built. Do you know if there are any historical photos or written history of this particular school or even the history of the area?

Thanks again for the link Steven! I did read the fascinating history of this site going back to George Elliott when he built his tavern hoping to be a stop for the B&O Railroad. As a history buff I enjoy learning about "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.

This certainly was an interesting historical location with the tavern, the Seminary College, the caretaker and his dogs and all of the strange stories and tales of the occult. Fun reading too! :btu:

Sorry I missed the cruise. I had other plans that day.

So, how did the Cheeburger Cheeburger cruise wind up ending at the Green Turtle?

Did Cheeburger Cheeburger see Bob roll up again and lock thier doors? I heard he ate all thier foor last time.

The Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant is next door to the Green Turtle, the same restaurant that we went to when we met the people at Apple Ford.
