Post subject:  steering on my explorer

am having an issue with my 2006 explorer. sitting still with engine running it turns as I think it should, but when driving , when I turn, it resists, eases and resists. Am getting no noise from the power steering pump.

I have to ask is this something you notice and is this kind of a slight issue? I have felt similar feeling in my older Taurus and I just didn't let it bother me as I had no leaks, no noise and I didn't notice and reduction of performance and or a safety issue. I am kind of particular when it comes to safety and since it steered when I pointed it in that specific direction I didn't sweat it.

So point is if someone else drove your vehicle would they notice the same feeling in the wheel? If so them maybe it is the pump or the gear box with the added pressure of the pump.
