not sure if it was because the Ford was out front or if it is really that much better of a car. The GTI looked awkward with how it performed.

Don't laugh too hard because that same Ecoboost engine just may find its way into the next generation Mustang!

With 250 hp and 276 lb ft. of torque it may become the base engine for the Mustang as they begin marketing the car for global sales.

In today's culture it is very possible and there will be enough after market h/p to give it some ballz.

This is almost a foregone conclusion. Ford needs to up gas mileage to meet ever tightening CAFE figures and this engine is a good choice for Eurpean markets where gas is very expensive.

The new generation Mustang will also be a bit smaller and lighter than todays car so a high performance Ecoboost 4 cylinder engine would offer both performance and gas mileage.

Haven't seen that one. That was pretty cool! I think if I didn't find my GT, the ST would have been warranted a closer look. Only seen one in person at Koons Annapolis when I went to get the warranty transferred.

While many Mustang enthusiasts will snub their noses at a 4 cylinder base engine in a Mustang, this Ecoboost engine is not your fathers old 4 cylinder lump of iron.

A lot of people will automatically think about the Mustang II cars of the 1970's and the underpowered 78 hp Mustangs of the late 70's and 80's. I once owned a 1980 Mustang with the 78 hp 4 cylinder engine and it was not a performance car by any stretch of the imagination.

It was very sporty as it had a 4 speed manual, which did help performance a bit, however it wouldn't win any drag races. But engine technology has developed to the point where tiny engines can actually give excellent fuel economy and deliver a level of performance befitting a Mustangs image.

Agreed your points make logical sense and we need to get in line wih the rest of the world on mileage and technology and this may be a good start for competition of markets.

Heck they even think of the SVO especially when it comes to turbo considering the early problems with the oil only turbos.
