I agree with "Defyant". Young people pay the highest rates because they have the most accidents and a general lack of driving experience. I'm 44 years old and just bought my first "sports car" a year ago--my 2006 Ford Mustang GT. I've been with Allstate insurance since I started driving at 17, and I've never had an accident and only one speeding ticket (which has since been expunged from my driving record) and I pay $1,057 a year in car insurance. Before my Mustang, I drove a 1997 Ford Ranger pick-up truck with a 3.0L V6 in it and only paid $546 a year. If you're driving a fast car with a big V8, you're going to pay a high premium. (But Oh Boy!!! isn't it worth it to drive a Mustang GT!!!).
