With the car show season coming up, cruises, the Ocean City trip, etc. I took off some time between my two "reorganization projects" to detail my car. I still need to clean up my engine compartment but I am basically ready for the upcoming season.

After washing I clay barred the car with Griot's Garage paint clay to remove surface dirt and wax until the surface was as smooth as glass. I than polished the car with Griot's Garage Machine Polish 3, a very mild polish to take out any swirl marks and scratches and finally waxed it with Meguiars new Ultra Synthetic Wax. I used this product last September and my car still beads up.

I have one and possibly two more cars to detail before the Ocean City trip so I needed to do this before I ran out of time.

Here are some pictures.

Since I'm now retired I have the time to do auto and truck detailing but I do have to be careful not to overdo as I have permanent issues with my back like scoliosis, spinal stenosis, and arthritis. Last July I had back surgery to correct impingement of my sciatic nerve. So for me I do have some physical limitations.

That being said I still take on a detailing job if I will have enough time to do the job. I need to be smart about what I take on and how often I take on a project. I'm improving every day as my back is slowly but surely healing.

I've just started a couple of new projects around the house that have been put on hold for the past few years. Check out my thread on Reorganizing my Garage and Laundry Room. I have some before and some after photos although I am not completely finished with these projects. I hope to be finished in a couple of weeks.

Nice you can work as you so desire being retired and also physically with your back.

Being retired is nice but not what I expected or thought it would be many years ago when I was much more active. I always loved playing golf but haven't been able to play since 2003. The past few years have been pretty hard on me as I was in so much pain and discomfort.

Now I want to go back to being as active as I once was but that is not going to happen as I have to work around my back issues. At least I'm slowly getting back to a more active lifestyle again. I'm going to begin riding my mountain bike again and I have a membership at Planet Fitness that I'm trying to use more often.

This is the first time in the past several years that I am looking forward to the car show season again. I always believed that since I was physically fit and healthy my whole life that I would have an active lifestyle during my retirement. Now I have to adjust to a less active lifestyle but I'm not complaining as there are many other folks who have more problems than me. I'm just satisfied to make the best of my situation and not let it interfere with things that I want to do.

I was hoping to work a few more years to help pay off some bills sooner or maybe buy a newer car as I felt that I was too young to retire however my back issues forced the decision for me to retire. I still enjoy not having to deal with the traffic or worry about getting up early or having the stress of a full time job so I'm blessed to at least not have to put up with that!

Midnight Blue it was real nice finally meeting you and your car does look really nice in person. We enjoyed the day and although a wee chilly it was a very nice event.

Here are a couple of photos from the Cheeburger Cheeburger Cruise. All of the photos, over 100 have been posted on the Club Event and Meeting Section of the forum.

The first order of business was to clean off all of the pollen that had completely covered my car!

I'm glad that you and your wife enjoyed being out and about with our club. I know that it can be a little intimidating at first to meet new people but as you can see everyone is very open and friendly especially to new members and guests.

Hopefully you and Joanna will be able to attend some of our other events or cars shows. The Century Ford Car Show in June will be held only a short distance from the where we met at the Pizza Hut in Mt. Airy. Your little red 1990 convertible would fit right in at the car show.

Here are some pictures that I took while my car was parked in front of my house while I have been detailing my friends 1999 Honda Accord. That detailing job which I have labeled the "Lazarus Project" , because I had to resurrect this car back from the dead, is finally done. You can check out all of the photos of this transformation on the Detailing Section of the Forum.

Here are some photos that I took in the late afternoon. I just need to do a little fine detailing to get it ready for Ocean City.
