I have a question regarding my air box:
I have a K&N insert that I cleaned today and so I am wanting to keep my car stock looking yet have a few mods that will make some difference. I have heard that if I removed the insert that is in the fender I could conceivably get as much air as I would with a CAI.
So how would I remove this insert w/out tearing stuff up? I have been known to be a wee heavy handed and I'd rather not have to fix something that isn't necessary.

Next question: I noticed some cracks in my fan and I know eventually it will go high order, so do you recommend another style fan that is more reliable than the stock version and also sucks in enough air to keep that 5.0 cool?

Removing the silencer is marginal. It will breathe a bit better. To do it, it's best to remove the wheel and unscrew the fender liner and that should give you enough room to work it out of there. You need to remove the air box to get to it's bolts. As far as the fan goes also check your fan clutch. I can't remember if the SSP had a "better" fan blade or not, but I know they had a heavier duty clutch. I did a flex-a-lite on my old 92 years ago because at the time I couldn't afford the new fan blade due to being out of work(yeah it was that expensive at the time). It was noisy but it moved air. My buddy and I finally got a car to part out that had been wrecked that had a new fan and clutch on it, so I ditched the flex-a-lite.

Thanks Bob on the answers I was trying not to get into a CAI as to keep the original look, but would like more air and hence "thought" of a cheaper plan..... :yikes:

I plan on R&R the fan and clutch with one just like the OE spec and again it would look the part and be what I'd need since I won't be :3gears: all the time just every now and again. Also do I need to pull the shroud and radiator?

Well you guys be well and have a great New Year and I'll see you all next year once I get my new job and move back.

You can carefully sneak out the fan. Just unbolt the clutch front the water pump. You might want to put a piece of cardboard down to keep the fan from damaging the radiator.
