Jim McGuire and I will be hosting a detailing workshop during the Bob Davidson Car Show on Saturday, September 29th.

We plan to make this an interactive workshop by allowing club members and car show participants to learn how to use orbital buffers and other specialized equipment and products to detail their cars like a pro.

There is much more to detailing a car than just washing and waxing and you will be amazed at the results as we detail a club members car. We will also be discussing the multitude of specialty products available today including headlight restoration kits.

We hope to see you there so come prepared to learn some new techniques and inside secrets of professionally detailing your car for personal use or for Car Show presentation.

If you at the show please come by and get involved with the workshop. We want you to come by and grab a buffer and help out and learn something in the process. Fun will be had for sure at this workshop. looking forward to working with Steve on this project.

Detailing at show. Steve you and Jim should ask John for the car in the lot that needs the most detail work done. maybe i'll have the 2 of you look at my wheel. see what can be done. :btu:

I have some water spots on mine. Especially noticable where the black spears are painted on the hood at the cowl rise.

A little bit of clay bar, some polish and buffer and the water spots should disappear. Then follow up with some wax. That should that care of them for you.

Great! I spoke with Steve about them today also. And want to thank you guys for a great demonstration! And a big thanks to Steve for hitting my engine bay with the detail spray! He mentioned it when he was snapping some pics shortly after i pulled in and was setting up. Made it look outstanding! Now to get another order for Griots together, LOL!

You'te welcome Eric! :btu:

We've got lots of photos from the car show to post. I also demonstrated several other detailing products from Griot's Garage and other quality manufacturers on some of the car show participants cars throughout the day.

I wanted to come by and take an "after" photo of your engine bay Eric, but my protege Clark was busy snapping pics of Vaugh Gitten, Jr. in action. Actually Clark was a big help to me at the show as I was tied up with the detailing of Linda's car so he went around the car show doing an excellent job as my photography assistant. He has a got eye for composing pictures and took some awesome pics at the show!

I found it funny that people who came by our demonstration area and saw the products that Jim McGuire and I were using on display tables and thought that we were selling these products! :grinking:

We passed out several Griot's Garage catalogs and told people that Advanced Auto carried several Griot's Garage products in special display racks. We also told folks that they could go online to check out all of the products that Griot's Garage has to offer.

I really want to give special thanks to Jim McGuire who did the lions share of the work on Linda's car. Jim and I both enjoy detailing and he found himself a new toy, a Griot's Garage 3" random orbital polisher, that he used to apply the polishes on Linda's car.

I'm hoping that the photos show how much difference the polishing did to Linda's car, especially her white vinyl stripes. These vinyl stripes are a big appearance option on a Mustang but you have to continue to protect them ASAP or dirt will form on the vinyl and it is almost impossible to remove. That being said, the difference in the stripes on Linda's car was dramatic. People watching us polish the stripes could visibly see the brightness come back after polishing.

We were using Griot's Garage Machine Polish 3, a very mild polish, to remove the set in stains and when compared to the other stripe that had not yet been polished there was a clear, visible differnce in brightness. We then used Griot's Garage One-Step, a combination product consisting of Machine Polish 3 and a Paint Sealant. As further protection, Jim applied Griot's Garage Premium Carnauba Wax by hand and I buffed it off with one of their polishing cloths. The metallic paint in Linda's car took on a deeper color during each step of the process and the finished car looks better than new!

I detailed the interior of Linda's car with Griot's Garage Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. The leather immediately turned black as opposed to the faded gray look it had when I started. Again, the results were dramatic. I used both a Turtle Wax liquid protectant and Meguires Natural Protectant to do the dash, doors and all of the plastic pieces in the interior.

After seeing the results of that work I used these products on a couple of participants cars with the same outcome.

Both Jim and I thought that the workshop was well received by the crowd and several brave individuals came forward to take a turn at using the clay bar and 3" orbital polisher first hand. All of them came away amazed at how easy it was to use these products. We will try to do this again as a tech session for the club and try to get more people involved in the process.

I'll start posting photos soon but since were so many taken it will have to be done over a couple of days.

The Bob Davidson Car Show was a huge success for the club and Bob Davidson Ford! :btu:

The show was well attended and while I don't have the official number of cars entered into the show, I believe it was in the mid 70's. We did have a crowed show field behind the Used Car Outlet where we set up the registration booth and display tables for our club merchandise.

Jim McGuire and I set up our detailing area next to the registration area and spend the whole day detailing Linda Queen's 2007 Mustang GT. Linda's car is red with white racing stripes and while it was clean it was in need of a good detailing. We tried to make this workshop interactive with the crowd and indeed several people tried their hands at using the clay bar and a 3" orbital polisher as we completely changed the look of Linda's car before their eyes! :btu:

Jim did the lions share of the detailing as I was busy snapping photos of the show field but together we managed to make Linda's car look better than new! I will be posting many of the photos that were takne during the day by myself and my new photo assistant Clark. Clark, who is Linda's son was a very busy young man at the show as he was selling 50-50 tickets and snapping pictures of Vaughn Gitten, Jr. as he raced around the front lot of Bob Davidson Ford.

Several lucky members of the club got to ride along with Vaughn as he thrilled the crowd with his drifting demonstration. :grinking:

We had great weather for a fall car show and a large crowd of participants and spectators who had a great time. Scott did his usual excellent job as our MC and many members stepped up to volunteer to man the registration and merchandise tables to make this a very successful show for the club.

We had a lot of trophies to give away and a lot of nice cars along with their owners received the recognition of the show car participants. We have photos of all of the winners!

I will be posting the photos over a few days as there are too many to do at one time. I hope that you enjoy the photos and for those who could not make the show maybe this will help you appreciate just how much work goes into doing one of these shows!
