Detailing an engine can be a worthwhile project if the results are rewarding in the end. My engine was clean before but lacked a little bit of "Gotcha".

I repainted my engine with a new High Temperature Paint that I purchased at Carlisle during the Ford or Mopar show. This was the first time I had an opportunity to use it and the results speak for themselves!

My brother suggested the blue wire wraps to offset the bright engine and tie in with the color of my car.

Devil Dog,

I do professional auto detailing including engine detailing as you've seen on my 2002 Mustang.
Here are some before and after photos of the engine compartment of our 2008 Mercury Mariner.

We traded in this car in July when my wife purchased a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Do to it's remarkable condition we received 125% of Kelly Blue Book on the trade in!

The engine compartment, which had not been touched since we bought the car in 2008, was pretty grimy and dirty. After I finished detailing the engine compartment it came out looking like new. I also detailed Bob Thompson's 2009 Mustang GT in June before the Century Ford Show and he won a trophy.

If you are interested in having your engine detailed you can PM me on the forum or email me at:
steventapper@yahoo.com. Please leave a name and phone number and I'll call you back.

More photos of the 2008 Mercury Mariner.

When we brought the car to the dealership all of the sales people came out to check it out as it looked brand new!

:btu: I am impressed with the detail work you have done!

I will look into that Chrome paint you mentioned above, currently restoring my '83 Cadillac and that chrome paint would be just what the dr ordered to repair the exterior door handles.

They currently are pitted or bubbled but otherwise nothing is wrong with them and would prefer to keep the originals on the car.

Thanks for your response, and you are probably right about having them professionally done vs trying the spray myself. Plus the prep work to get the bubbled chrome and pitting may be more than what I'm prepared to do and certainly dont want to destroy them.

It's always best to do it right the first time whenever doing a restoration. It will cost you less in the long run.
