I've always been told that tempered auto glass cannot be drilled - it will split, crack and break. Now, I am in a custom situation that I need to drill a rear window glass on a 66 Mustang - to install a custom hinged rear tailgate window for my 66 Mustang Wagon. Any thoughts on this? Should I just try it? Anyone ever done this? Thanks!

Wow what cool project! More pictures of that custom would be in order! oh and good luck drilling the rear glass. |

Hey Rick, if you are still looking to do this, I'd recommend a custom glass shop. There is one on North Point Road, across from Royal Farms. With Tina's experience with auto glass and at her current job (Hazelwood Body and Fender) she is not certain the glass can be drilled with success..her boss is currently restoring an old car as well and highly recommends the shop on North Point...they can make the glass for you. |

Thanks Mark - I have actually worked with that shop before on North Point for a convertible top. I actually have acquired several extra glasses for the rear hatch, so I am going to try it myself first. |
