Post subject:  1966 replacement fender problem

Bought an aftermarket 1965-6 right front fender. It is suppose to be "orginal Ford tooling" but I am having problems with the fit. When attached, I can only get "EITHER" the fender and hood gap correct...or the fender and the door gap correct...but not both at the same time. Any suggestions???

By the way, does anyone have...or knows of someone...who has an original right front fender. Perhaps I could borrow/buy it to verify the fender I have now.

Thanks, Chuck

Pretty common on body panel replacment. Has the door ever been replaced? I could take a look at if for you.

Don't know if the door has ever been replaced. But let me ask you a question concerning authentic fenders. What should the stamp read on a RH front fender?....and/or....any other identifying marks?

Thanks for your offer to look at it but it's not road worthy yet.

keep in mind, it may not be the fender. These old ponies have a tendency to sag at the A pillar, and the shock towers begin to lean in. When I built by 64 1/2 coupe, I had to push the shock towers out almost a 1/2" before the original fenders fit properly with the doors.
