Old one out, new one installed in about 5 hours. Fairly simple if you take your time and pay attention to where the wires are connected when you are taking it all apart. I had labled the instrument cluster wires the last time I removed it from the car, so that saved me some time.
I did mess up in starting on the passenger side and working across. Because of how the harness weaves around the dash its easier to start on the drivers side. Feed the right most part of the harness in through the instrument cluster hole and weave it down along the dash to the passender side.
A few trouble spots:
Getting the old harness plugs disconnected from the firewall, those four little tabs that hold em in place are really strong! :x
The new plug that fits into the headlight switch was too tight. The metal contacts were too small and needed to be pryed open just a bit. Otherwise every time I tried to squeeze the two together, I would just push the contacts out the back of the plug!
I broke my emergency flasher because of the same problem. I pushed the contact inside the flasher, broke the old cardboard bottom the contacts were sticking out of.
This isn't really a problem per say, but I lost my lights in my aftermarket gauges. Apparently they were spliced into the old harness somewhere. Now I need to find a factory plug where I can get my power from, no way am I splicing into this harness! :FingerNo
