White Marsh 2015 Holiday Parade - December 5th

Line up is at 8:30 am and no later than 9:15 am at the Avenue in White Marsh at Corporate I Place off of Corporate Drive. There will be road closures so you must enter the staging area for line-up at the intersection of Corporate Drive and Town Center Drive via Sandpiper Circle (from Honeygo Boulevard by the WM Library) then left onto Corporate Drive . *Please note Corporate Drive will be closed from Honeygo Blvd. to Town Center Drive by 7:30 am.

Dave, I will not be able to participate in the White Marsh Parade this coming Saturday. This will be the first time in many years that I will not be able to attend and participate in this parade.

Last Wednesday, November 25th I had a freak accident where my feet got tangled and I lost my balance and fell while pumping gas. It all happened so fast I'm not really sure how it happened. Once I put the nozzle in the gas tank I turned to get a look at the gas pump when my feet got tangled and with my back problems my sense of balance is sometimes off.

As I started to fall backward all I could thing about was protecting my back and neck from the fall. So my legs got twisted and my right leg buckled under me. I felt a very sharp pain in my right thigh like it had been shot. At first I thought that maybe I broke my leg as I could not move it at all. So I laid there on the ground for several minutes until a lady pulled up behind me and came running over to help me get up. I asked her to get the store clerk and the two of them were able to help me stand up. I was able to put a little bit of weight on my right leg so I felt confident that I could drive the one mile home. Once I got home my wife drove me to our doctors office for an xray which fortunately did not show any broken bones in my leg. But my doctor gave me a referral to an Orthopedic Specialist, who I was able to see today.

The bottom line is that I ruptured my Quadracep Muscle tendon which attaches to the knee. They fit me with a ridged leg brace that I have to wear day and night and will be having surgery on Friday, December 11th at Sinai Hospital. It will be outpatient surgery but I will not be able to drive for 3-4 months.

I will be attending the Club's Christmas Party on Sunday.

So I must drop out of the parade for this year. I hope that you have a nice turnout and representation from the club.

Thanks so much for your well wishes and support Paul. Yes I will have a lot of time to rest up but I will also keep busy. I already do a lot of reading and writing so that will continue. I will get a chance to play around with my model trains and layout too.

Unfortunately I won't be much help in clearing off any snow we might get this year or even use the snow blower. I'll have to make arrangements with some of my neighbors to see if they can help us out with snow removal.

This is not the way I was planning to celebrate the holidays this year.
