The Perryville Library is celebrating the 60's this Summer and I was contacted by the Perryville Library to do a presentation about the 60's era Mustangs. My neighbor works there and knew I had a '68 and suggested it to her boss. There was a suggestion about doing something on the Camaro but the ladies at the Library agree that the Mustang is much cooler. :btu:

I immediately enlisted Steve to give the presentation since he is our Historian. Currently I am taking Steve's Word versions of his presentations and turning them into PowerPoint slides. So he and I will be there on Tuesday September 10th to do the presentation.

You may be asking yourself Dave that is great but how can I help? Glad you asked. On Saturday September 7th they would like us to bring as many Mustangs (from all years) to the library to promote the talk and get people to the library. It would be great to have as many years as possible represented and of course as many 60's Mustangs as possible.

I was also thinking of getting together with members with 60's Mustangs and doing a little video interview. That way either before or after the presentation we can show these videos.

I've been wanting to bring it up at a meeting but the last couple have been over an hour away from me. So I'm going to bring it up here and see what the thoughts are.

Thanks
Dave

I have a 65 Fastback and would be interested; just too far out to plan right now.

Thanks,
Bob

I'll try to make it to the September 7th get together Dave. Although I don't own a 60's Mustang the lineage is still there! :grinking:

Hopefully we'll be able to get more people there as we get closer to the event. This is still over three months away and some folks have a hard time committing to something that far in advance.

I'm looking forward to doing the power point presentation on the early history of the Mustang and it's impact on the culture of the 1960's. :btu:

I'm sure we will Steve. I'm still going through your documents and pulling out the highlights. I hope to get it finished soon so you can review it and we can finalize it.

Dave,

Since the next meeting will be held at Bellisimo's Restaurant in Finksburg I'm guessing that you won't be able to make this meeting. I'll bring this up during the meeting in my Historians report. I will probably be able to reach a few people who own 60's era Mustangs but will also extend the invitation to anyone else interested in the September 7th get together.

If you can post the details such as the address of the Perryville Library and the time we need to be there I can get this message out to the members attending the meeting.

You and I also need to plan a time when we can get together to go over the slide presentation.

Ok guys and gals we are about a week away from this event. The address for the Perryville library is 500 Coudon Blvd, Perryville, MD 21903. All year Mustangs are welcome! So please new, old, in between. Come on out and show off your Mustang like we need an excuse to do that. They open at 10am and would like to have us there about 9:30 to set up the Mustangs. We will only be there for a couple of hours and we can leave at noon but if you need to leave sooner you can.

We are on their website and they are promoting us. So lets fill up the parking lot with Mustangs for them. :btu:

Then on September 10th at 7pm Steve Tapper and I will present a history of the Mustang, the 60's.

So please chime in if you plan on attending.

No one? It's only a week away. Let me know please. I see that we have another cruise competing now.

There are several car shows and cruises on September including a MCOM sponsored cruise from Sonoma's Restaurant in Columbia, MD Dave.

It would appear that members from Harford and Cecil Counties would be the most receptive to being able to meet at the Perryville Library on that day. As I mentioned to you I will not be able to attend on the 7th but will be there on the 10th for the Power Point Presentation. One of my model train club friends, Dave Stevens and his wife have already signed up for the program on the 10th.

I can make the 7th for sure; not certain about the 10th yet, but looks good also. Hopefully a couple more cars show up :btu:

How many cars do you have so far? Two? Try contacting Fr. Lou and DodgeStang. You might be able to reach out to a couple of the local Vintage-Mustang.com members.

Awesome! Glad you can make it! The 7th is really when we need the Mustangs so that is great.

Dave I guess I have two. If I can convince my wife to drive either the '68 or '01 then we will have three. It doesn't have to be a classic. It can be brand new. They just want Mustangs there.

I was just down at the library about a half hour ago and they said there is a lot of interest in seeing Mustangs on Saturday and hearing the story on Tuesday. It is supposed to be a wonderful day!

Again New or old bring it out!

If it sounds like I'm begging...I am! I've been in the club for 12 years and while not active lately, I have served in several offices for years when I first joined and was one of the 3 people that put on the shows and did most of the work. I haven't asked much from the club but put in a lot of my time to help make it what it is today.

I was hoping that there would be more interest from the many members we have who live in Harford and Cecil Counties Dave as this is a "local" event for them.

Besides not being able to attend because of the Jewish Holidays I now am fighting off a nasty bacterial urinary tract infection that I've had since last Saturday. I've been on Cipro since Saturday but it has not been effective and today the doctor prescribed a new, much stronger antibiotic Levaquin which should make me feel better in a couple of days.

I have every reason to believe that I will be fine by September 10th but I had to miss our MCOM meeting tonight as I'm really feeling rough and that's putting it mildly!

Sorry for not responding earlier but things at work have been crazy recently so I kinda forgot--I'll be there with the Mach 1--My son is giving it a quick bath and I'll be on my way--I guess we're to meet at the Library around 0930?

Just wanted to thank everyone that came out to support the library! :btu: We had a total of 11 Mustangs which was perfect, most of which were from the 60's. The Librarian was ecstatic with the response. We even attracted a couple of GMs to check out the competition.
