2013 Gettysburg Cruise - Saturday 09 Novemb! UPDATE!!

Saturday, Nov 09! Rain date will be Nov 16.

Meet - 0800-0830 at the Belk's parking lot - Westminster Mall - Rt. 140/97 in Westminster.

I need a head count for our lunch reservations! Please leave a note on here and lemme know how many are in your car!

The weather looks beautiful, but a bit chilly! Dress appropriately, we will be spending a lot of time outside. Also, I try to present a generally unbiased view of the battle, but I'm a Marylander and a Southerner...so Yankees beware! There may even be a sighting of a Confederate soldier.

Prepare to have a great time and learn about this great battle that took place in our backyard.

Leave PROMPTLY at 0830 for Gettysburg and we'll be done around 4 PM.

We wait for no one...it is going to be a long day!

We have reservations in town at General Pickett's Buffet for 1100-1200. It a prix fix menu...meaning one fee covers everything including tip. They are use to handling large groups. $11.00 per person. If you have FRS/GMRS radios, bring them to stay in touch on the cruise.

This year marked the 150th anniversary of this great battle. There will be new stops, route and new stories this year...I may even make some up! So those who went last year may actually learn something new.

At our form-up, I'll issue an American flag for your antenna to fly while in Gettysburg, and a map of the cruise route and stops. It's about an hour to Gburg. Watch speed limit through Littlestown!

We will catch up in Gettysburg at the first stop and mount the antenna flags. We will make several stops, then break for lunch at 1100.

Following lunch, we will continue the cruise through the battlefield. The # of stops depends on how we are doing.

I am planning to end the cruise and head back about 4 PM.

If the weather looks bad, we may cancel again, so check this site often for the latest info.

Di and I will definitely try to make the Gettysburg trip. My great grandfather Peter William Wheeler was wounded in the leg on the third day south of Culps Hill.

Wish we could make this new date. This is one of our favorite cruises. We have tickets to Ronnie Dove's next to the last concert. He's retiring and our friends Sue and Earl are going with us to it. Hope you have good weather, but if it happens to rain, we'll be there.

I will be in my Suburban instead of the mustang, due to a serious injury to my left hand. can't safely drive a manual trans with just one working hand.
