All - Good news - State College Stangs are meeting us at the PA line on Rt 70 to join us on the cruise!

I have American Flags for the antennas. I also have a Commemorative Flag for the participants to sign. We have a wreath that we will leave at the site following a short ceremony. Be sure to sign the ribbon that will be placed on the wreath.

Bad news - The MD State Police can't give an escort. I'm open for ideas.

More news -

PA State Police can]t escort because of "those damned politicians!" LMAO at that one. So, we are on our own!

Good News - I spole to Father Al at the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel today....our stop before the crash site. His health is fading, but he is going to have a parking area mowed for us and will "do something very special" for us. Part of our donations from the event will go to Fr. Al and the Chapel. They need donations bad.

Should be a great event. The more participants we get, the better!

It looks like I'm not going to be able to do this cruise after all. My wife is working at a very stressful job and is completely wiped out by the end of the week. She looks forward to a quiet weekend to recuperate.

I'm sorry that I won't be able to share this experience with those who are going but I need to do what's right for Barbara.

If you have FRS radios, bring them. We will be on channel 9-3 for the cruise.

Meeting is at the Park N Ride on Rt. 27...just north of the I-70 intersection on the left. Look for a bunch of Mustangs! ; )

The wreath is done! Thanks to Ann T. & Heather C. The ribbon that everyone has been signing will be attached the day of the Memorial.

Also, our 3 x 5' flag which we'll have everyone sign. We'll keep the flag with the club for display.

Ann and Heather did a beautiful job on the flag and the wreath! :btu:

I wish that I could be with you on this trip. Should be a fun cruise and a memorable time for everyone who is going.

Itinerary for the Cruise -

Saturday 06 August
8:00 AM - Meet Mt. Airy, MD, Park n Ride (Rt. 27 North of Pizza Hut) - Register, donate, get goodie bags, antenna flags, sign cruise flag, & get door prize ticket.
8:30 AM - Depart
11:00 AM - Meet up with State College Stangs at Breezewood, PA Walmart – SCS sign flag
11:00 - 12:00 - Lunch in Breezewood on your own
12:00 - Depart Breezewood for Flight 93 Memorial Chapel, Friedens, PA
1:00 PM – Arrive at Chapel. Father Al Mascherino to greet us.
1:45 PM – Depart for Memorial Site
2:00 PM – Arrive at Memorial
2:15 – 2:30 – Memorial Service / Wreath Laying / Prayer

3:30 PM +/- - Depart for Hotel
6:00 PM Dinner in Somerset – Arrangements made once we get a headcount

Sunday 07 August
9:00 AM – Depart for Quecreek Mine Rescue Site, Somerset, PA
10:30 AM – Depart Quecreek for Johnstown Incline Railway
11:30 AM – Arrive Johnstown – Lunch
Incline railway after lunch
Return home at will and safely!

Of course the itinerary is wishful thinking on my part…but it gives us somewhere to start!

A SPECIAL NOTE: Please visit the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel website below and see what work one man, Father Al, has done to honor our heroes. Fr. Al is in dire health, yet he continues his work. I spoke with him yesterday. He said he was going to have the field mowed for us to park together in, and is “going to do something very special for you all.” He is very thankful that we are visiting the Chapel as well as the Memorial.

The chapel operates on donations, and of course receives much less than the National Memorial. The Cruise is suggesting a minimum $10 donation from each participant…however, we will pass the hat and you can contribute as little or as much as you wish. The donations will be divided between the Chapel and the national Memorial. If you cannot afford a donation, please come on the cruise anyway. Your support and friendship is what is important to all of us. If you cannot make the cruise and wish to contribute, please give a donation online, or give to one of the people going on the cruise.
