This may sound dumb but I always liked the vents in the quarter panels of the 69 Mach I. I have also thought they would have looked good on the 2005-2009 S197 body style, perhaps a little smaller and slightly redesigned and refined to fit the curvature of the S197 body. Has anyone ever seen anyone add these vents to the S197? Perhaps if I had too much money and time, and a little more talent I would customize the Ghost with replica Mach I vents in the quarters for s different touch. Just a thought on a quiet night with nothing else to do lol.

A car needs a set of hips to pull that look off. 1967-1971 had hips.

Not sure how a 197 would look.

Dave,

I see what you mean about the S-197 not having the hips for Mach I quarter scoops and hips like those on the 69 are needed for it to look right. In the photo of the S197 you posted it appears they simply used a scoop from a 69 Mach I. I zoomed in tight on the photo you posted. Whereas the bottom edge of the scoop is cleanly in line with the door seam on the 69, the bottom edge of the scoop overlaps the body line on the S197 giving it a sloppy, patched on look. Plus it appears, although the front edge of the scoop appears to be aligned with the door, the scoop looks to be pointing slightly downward in the rear instead of being level like on the 69 (may be an optical illusion). I still think it would have looked good if quarter scoops had been specifically designed in the S197 quarter panels, but using the stock Mach I scoops apparently just wont do it without heavy modifications (i.e. widening) to the S197 quarter panels. Oh well.

Bruce

So, I talked to Kenny Brown Performace. That is a one off, custom build, wide body kit built on a 2005 Mustang for the Sema show. The company they uses is a custam car shop in Ca. called Veris. Seems Veris build a lot of Sema cars.

Better pics can be found here:

I share your love of the 69 1/4 scoops. I saw them on a Stang years ago and fell hard for it. In thinking about an install, the Shelby 1000 with it's wide body would be perfect.
