Mustang's are coming to Europe in the near future!

According to this article on the Amos Automotive Enthusiast webpage, Ford is releasing some details of their future plans to market the Mustang in Europe.

Check this out:

Ford Motor Company detailed an aggressive product acceleration in Europe leveraging the company’s One Ford global portfolio and targeting opportunities for growth in the large car, SUV and commercial vehicle segments.

Ford introduced a series of new passenger cars, commercial vehicles and new technologies at a special event in Amsterdam attended by 2,500 Ford dealers, employees and media.

The company also confirmed that several additional vehicles from its global portfolio will come to Europe in the near term – including the legendary American icon, the Ford Mustang.

“Even with the near-term business environment, Europe presents a significant opportunity for profitable growth,” said Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally. “Today, we are accelerating the introduction of our new products in Europe, leveraging our One Ford plan – with a full family of vehicles offering the very best quality, fuel efficiency, safety, smart design and value – just like we did when we transformed our business in North America.

“You only have to look at the incredible response to Mustang when it has appeared this summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in the U.K., and at the Le Mans Classic, in France, to get a sense of the excitement this American icon generates across Europe,” said Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe chairman and CEO. “The Mustang is uniquely Ford and has a huge fan base here in Europe. Now those fans have something to look forward to and we look forward to providing more details in the near future.”

Sounds good but they'll have to get there arms around the performance level of some of the high end vehicles in country. Those cars have a level that far surpasses our current capabilities imho....I know they have done a lot of studies and looked and crunched the reliability numbers.

Good story thanks.

This article is just making the business case for 2015 Mustang which will be dramatically restyled away from the current retro style Mustang we have now.

The new Mustang will feature and more modern look somewhat like a Jaguar which will hopefully appeal to a younger demographic and the European market.

While Ford plans to offer the current 305 HP V-6 and the 425 HP V-8 engines in their cars today, they are also preparing to introduce a 4 cylinder ecoboost engine, which should offer good fuel economy and decent power at 260 HP. In addition, the new Mustang will feature an independent rear suspension.

The Mustang has always had appeal in Europe as man cars have made their way there but never really sold there to the local population. With the emphasis on a world wide marketing platform, Ford needs the Mustang to be successful in Europe.

They are also concerned about the reception the newly styled Mustang will have here in the USA.

Yes I remember that topic you mentioned a while back. I see that the european ways on things like the diesels. Clean and getting 45-50 mpg and yet our country are not ready to embrace this yet. I watched the President of Ford this morning did talk about the european arena and the F-series. We will eventually get boxed into smaller engines if we want to live the dream of the freedom of driving as we know it.

Good stuff in a way.

With increased interest in maintaining performance while boosting fuel economy will continue to be a challenge for all car makers, the technology today is far superior to the 1970's when we went from high powered V-8 engines to weasy 4 cylinder engines to meet CAFE requirements.

If Ford can produce 260 HP from a 4 cylinder Ecoboost engine that gets clost to 30 MPG than we've come a long, long way!
