Over this weekend, certain parties in the Maryland legislature have tried to sneak wording to HB579 that would provide the Maryland State Police with a very open ended training requirment for concealed carry permits. This is to offset the current set back the anti-gun crowd suffered by why of Judge Legg's decision in Woollard vs Sheridan. This court case put in question Maryland's arbitrary requirement that a citizen has to have a "good and substantial" need as the MSP sees fit.

There is also word they will expand it to every time you want to purchase of a handgun. One can expect that long guns would be next. 43 other states allow reasonable issue of permits ("shall issue" states) or require no permit at all ("constitutional carry" states).

Please contact your state delegates and senators TODAY. They are trying to force this bill through tomorrow which is the last day of the session.

I'm not particulary concerned about concealed carry but I do have a problem with having someone else decide my constitutional rights. I also do not want to give them any encouragement to restrict purchasing and limiting my choice to go target shooting or hunting.

this is not surprising and the way maryland voters lean, I am sure this will happen. Only way to change this , is for the voters in Md to quit voting in the same old.... but I dont see that happening. was a teaser when Erlich was voted in, but then they voted in glendening for 2 more terms.....opps, i mean parris omalley

I say "Just Do It", the sure way to keep the Mess the same is to talk a bunch and then sit back in the Status Quo. Do what is right and be assured that you have no part in the responsibility or blame of the Mess. You can not make a "U Turn" without actually turning the wheel.
