Sunday's AAA Texas Fall Nationals, near Dallas, was the second of six Countdown to the Championship events. Bob Vandergriff, Cruz Pedregon, (RFC) Jason Line and Michael Phillips were the pro winners. In Top Fuel, Vandergriff won for the first time in 14 final-round appearances, an NHRA record. He went 4.243 seconds, 239.44 mph to beat Spencer Massey's, 5.200, 145.48 mph. Massey leads (RFC) Antron Brown by seven points. In Funny Car, Pedregon's Toyota Solara clocked 4.200, 302.48 mph to best Ron Capps' 4.270, 293.66 mph in a Dodge Charger. Jack Beckman qualified sixth in the Valvoline/Aaron's Dodge Charger and lost in the second round. (RFC) Mike Neff leads Matt Hagan by four points. In Pro Stock, Line's Pontiac GXP ran 6.633, 208.46 mph to defeat Kurt Johnson's GXP, 6.663, 207.85 mph. (RFC) Ron Krisher qualified 12th in the Valvoline GXP and lost in the first round. Line tops Greg Anderson by 112 points. In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Phillips' Suzuki had a 6.979, 194.46 mph pass vs. (RFC) Hector Arana Jr.'s 7.010, 192.30 mph on a Buell. Eddie Krawiec leads (RFC) Karen Stoffer by 63 points. |
